
ANZBA is directed by an elected board of ten. Following the election of the board in December of each year, responsibilities are assigned to each board member. These are based on the measures considered necessary for the achievement of ANZBA's strategic goals and may vary from year to year.

Alistair Maclean He is based in Vientiane, as a Director and General Manager of Phu Bia Mining Ltd in Laos and of Puthep Co. Ltd, a PanAust joint venture company, in Thailand. Alistair is responsible for corporate social responsibility, sustainability, and relations with external stakeholders, focused on government, the non-government sector and affected communities. Alistair was a Senior Adviser to former Prime Minister John Howard in 2007, covering international and domestic environment, energy and resources issues. Bob Gordon Bob established ALS in Laos in 1995, Mwanza, Tanzania in 1999, re-established Laos in 2005, Pakse in 2008 and is currently setting ALS up in Phnom Penh, Cambodia. Bob is a keen but unskilled golfer and is married with two adopted daughters and Amala going to school in Vientiane. With over ten years accumulated in Laos he has a reasonable understanding of the culture and ways' he is also very dedicated to the country, people and especially the team he works with. Denley Pike In Laos for 16 of those years he has built a successful private education, training and management
business employing nearly 100 local and expat staff while contributing to the development of the country through his work on the Australian and New Zealand scholarship schemes, establishment and sponsorship of the LaoTESOL Conference, management of the VIDA and AYA volunteer schemes and the Endeavour Awards Program and cooperation with the government of Laos through various projects and advisory boards. |

Peter Evans Peter then moved on to an independent consulting career. The last decade has seen him continuing in the telecom industry, providing analysis and research on the Asian market for Australian-based company BuddeComm. In support of this role Peter returned to Laos and established an office in Vientiane; he also has an interest in local ISP Planet Online, as well as marketing and consulting company BlueGrass. More recently, Peter has been involved in the export of wine from Australia to Laos. He currently spends more than half his time in Laos, regularly commuting between here and Australia. |

Mike McDonald Mike has specialized in providing start-up and operations services to mining and infrastructure projects in Australia and elsewhere and has extensive experience in Native title matters. Mike has held executive and non-executive roles in a number of Australian companies. During this period Mike also developed a client base for the firm, successfully providing migration, mining and business legal services to resource companies in Australia and the Asian region. Mike has been coming to Laos since 2003 and is one of the partners in the Vientiane based office of McDonald Steed McGrath Lawyers. |
